Alpha chair awarded second prize on the ANDREU WORLD 4th INTERNATIONAL DESIGN COMPETITION.
It was also awarded the DESIGN AND DESIGN award.

After studying the ergonomics and the aesthetics, I finished the shape of the family. In the meantime the name was born, it was “Alpha” chair. From the linkage between the front leg and the seat, as well as the first letter of Andreu World.
AESTHETICS
The “alpha” chair is an object designed so to unite aesthetic elements of another period with current trends, a visual combination of past and present. There is a clear reference in the hand made furniture of another period, yet its dynamic shape is from today’s world.
There is a whole group (family) of furniture that is based on the idea of the chair. Its main feature is the linkage of the front leg with the horizontal side traverse using a small “branch”. This element is repeated in the whole family which includes an arm chair, a stool and an easy chair. It is thought to be produced of solid beech wood. The base of the upholstered part is made of plywood. There could be a contract version made of ply wood and can come in various vibrant colours. The contract version is without fabric on the seat.
